Who we are;
Mark Robinson is a serving Police Constable with Grampian Police (who is pictured with a 1400 GTR Kawasaki, similar to the machine to be loaned by Kawasaki (UK) for the event). Three other off duty colleagues may also participate in the ride.
What we are doing;
On Tuesday 17 April 2012 we are undertaking a 10 day sponsored motorcycle ride affectionaltely called ‘GOING THE EXTRA MILE’, in aid of the Royal Marine Association through ‘COMMANDO999′ to raise funds for injured ‘Royals’ for recuparation on return to the UK from overseas conflicts. The much needed funding will include onward care and welfare for the lifetime of the servicmen. We will be riding motorcycles kindly loaned by Kawasaki (UK) around all 51 Scottish, English and Welsh Police Forces with stops at all head quarters to collect donations. Continue Reading

Given the scale and impact of this years speedmarch, I thought only right in a very small way, to ‘debrief’ our run for the sake of prosperity and to thank all those involved. I must apoligise for taking a week to get this done…knackered!!

2011 will, for both Ray Mead and I, be the year that significant challenges were overcome in staging the speedmarch…primarily because of the clash in the diary with the Lord Mayors Show. All at Commando 999 remain deeply grateful to all concerned in the planning and implementation of the Lord Mayors Show for allowing the run to happen.

Ten-year-old Double Amputee, Lydia Cross, joins Local Policemen in 185-Mile Military ‘Yomp’ to Raise £1m for Commando 999
Ten-year-old Lydia Cross, who lost both legs to meningitis back in 2003, is determined to do what she can to help injured servicemen in the Royal Marines family.
This morning, Lydia joined local policemen Jim Hunt and Mark Hoar from Avon & Somerset Police as they attempt a grueling 185 mile ‘yomping’ challenge all the way from the home of the Royal Marines, Lympstone, to Central London. Continue Reading
