Commando 999 is dedicated to former Royal Marines Commando’s who currently serve (or have served) with any of the UK emergency services.
Together our mission is to raise funds for the Royal Marines Association (RMA) and the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF) who look after the entire Corps family from cradle to grave. The RM Charitable Trust Fund provides and maintains the efficiency and esprit de corps of the Royal Marines.
The Fund provides morale boosting activities in order to increase the likelihood of survival in theatre for the Royal Marines and to sustain a quality family life. Inevitably much is used in support of the many bereaved families and over 150 physically wounded Royal Marines. We also know that the future holds many hundreds who will also suffer mentally.
Our challenge is to raise as much money as possible for the RMA and in doing so, allow them to provide whatever support is necessary for the less fortunate members of the Corps family who need their help. The Royal Marines Association keep 80% of all money raised whilst the remaining 20% goes to keeping the ever-expanding Commando 999 alive.
So, that’s our challenge, what’s yours? Let us know and we can publicise and offer any assistance that we can.
I am delighted to hear of the continuing growth of Commando 999 following the hugely successful Commando Cops event in 2009. With in excess of 700 former Royal Marines now serving with the UK Emergency Services, I am greatly impressed and inspired by the commitment already shown by you all in supporting the wider Corps Family in these difficult times and very supportive of your plans to raise money for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund over the coming years. Maj Gen Buster Howes OBE. Commandant General Royal Marines/Chairman of Trustees, Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund
Commando 999 is a key part of the Corps Family’s drive to raise £6M for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund by the Royal Marines 350th birthday in 2014. The commitment shown by you all is fantastic and embodies the phrase – Once A Marine Always A Marine. The money you are raising is not only helping us support serving Royal Marines (see www.rmctf.org,uk) but will also allow Trustees to be confident that we can continue to support them and their dependants when they break their formal links to the Corps”. – Brig Simon Hill OBE. Chairman Royal Marines Campaign Board/Trustee, Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund
